JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant FLSA: Salary SUPERVISION: Clinic Administrator PURPOSE: The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will assist with patient care to include patient evaluation and treatment plans for patients on Hemodialysis, seeing patients in clinic, and rounding on dialysis patients that are hospitalized. Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will see patients at the dialysis center, clinic and hospital. KEY PROCESSES: Responsible for rendering professional patient care, in compliance with his/her license, to patients seen in the center and work with the Medical Director to assure the goals of the Center are met. Performs examination of patients and communicates assessment data in a comprehensive, orderly fashion verbally and in writing. Interprets laboratory results as required. Communicates information in an accurate, concise and timely manner. Protects confidentiality of information in written and verbal communications. Protects patient rights and privacy. Consult with the patients and patientxe2x80x99s family as needed. Assures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as may be in effect from time to time (appropriate and legible documentation, signed orders, universal precautions, etc.) Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical field. Must have the ability to perform data input, computer operations of EMR, verbal and written communications, math, knowledge of grammar and spelling and demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures. Must work effectively as a team member with all physicians and staff. Must be flexible and respond to changing demands. Mental Demand: Reads documents, detailed work, maintain confidentiality, problem solving, reasoning, verbal communication, written communication, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, and frequent interruptions. Communications: Interacts with staff, physicians, patients, administration, outside agencies daily. Interactions may be via telephone, in writing, E-mail, or face-to-face. Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills when dealing with the public on a daily basis. Physical Effort: Medium Work: Must be able to lift, reach above head, bend at the waist or kneel, stand or sit for long periods of time, display manual dexterity, walk or otherwise transport self to other areas of the practice, hear or detect pages and the phone and respond appropriately, communicate with other individuals for the provision and gathering of information. Working Conditions: Category I: High Risk, position contains tasks that daily involve exposure to blood, body fluids. Dialysis center environment. Education, Experience, and Training: Obtained a Bachelor/Masters degree from an accredited school. Hold an active nursing license/PA License in the State of Oregon. Completed post-graduate studies and certified by an accredited program. Must complete 30 hours of continuing medical education every two (2) years. With eight (8) hours in pharmacology. Must be BLS and ACLS certified. Must be familiar with clinical evaluation. At least one year of clinical experience preferred. Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients and others.
